BOYNE MOUNTAIN RESORT - The Alpine Course
Michigan Golf Course Review
General Information
BOYNE Golf features three top notch resort properties with ten courses of some of the best championship golf in northern Michigan, all available for public play. With designs by
renowned architects Robert Trent Jones and Arthur Hills along with a course that plays tribute to Donald Ross, BOYNE Golf has received high recognition from national
publications including Golf, Golf Digest, Golf for Women, Michigan Golfer - with several layouts listed in Golfweek's Top 100 Resort Courses in the Country. For information on the
property as well as info on golf packages, visit the Properties' website by clicking here.
Boyne Mountain Resort features two award winning championship courses - The Alpine and The Monument layouts. The 4,500 acre resort includes a variety of accommodations
from standard rooms to suites and condos, situated right at the base of the mountain. The Solace Spa is - in our opinion -the top destination spa in the Midwest. Treatments of all
types (19 treatment rooms) are available, with guests also able to enjoy top notch exercise equipment, steam, sauna and whirlpool facilities. Other recreational facilities include
an indoor/outdoor pool with hot tubs, tennis courts, lawn games, and the exciting Avalanche Bay indoor water park - with separate fees for resorts guests and the general public. A
variety of dining facilities are on property, and guests also have access to the Beach House restaurant - located adjacent to the golf facilities (open for lunch and dinner). There
also is a sandy beach with jet skis and watercraft rentals available, just across from the golf courses. For more info on the resort, visit our page for Boyne Mountain Resort with

The clubhouse at Boyne Mountain Resort features a pro shop that services both courses. There also are locker rooms with showers plus dry saunas for men and women.
Practice facilities include a wedge range, three putting greens and two separate sand bunker short game areas. Guests that stay at the beach front Deer Lake Villas have easy
access to the nine-hole natural grass putting course that is situated next to the Beach House clubhouse and nearby lake.
The Alpine Course
There are six sets of tee boxes on The Alpine Course, that play to distances and slopes measuring 7056 yards/138 slope, 6865 yards/136 slope, 6491 yards/131 slope, 6239
yards/127 slope for men and 139 slope for women, 6035 yards/122 slope for men and 136 slope for women, and 5062 yards with a slope of 121 from the front tees. Seven holes
have water in play and there are 72 sand bunkers situated near the landing zones off the tee or greenside.
There are some fairly tight, tree lined fairways especially on the front side, but golfers of all skill levels should be able to enjoy a fair and fun golf experience, on a design that has
no residential buildings along its secluded, rolling terrain. Elevated tees await golfers on several holes, including the par five 5th and beautifully sculpted par five 8th. The finishing
hole is a memorable one - a long par five with a pond in front of the tee and another water hazard that demands a carry to the green complex.
The Alpine Course is a good challenge for scratch golfers from the two back sets of tees, but is perhaps the most playable design of the Boyne properties, for players from the
three alternate sets. The three final holes do present forced carries on the approaches - but there is ample bailout room. Study the yardage guide that is complimentary for green
fee paying guests - it is helpful. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to the BOYNE Golf website by clicking here.
