Links at Whitmore Lake (734-449-4653)
Michigan golf course review
The Links at Whitmore Lake is a Bill Newcomb designed championship layout that is one of the most well conditioned courses in SE Michigan. Golfers will appreciate pristine
playing surfaces as well as the absence of residential properties on this course, with no residences on the front and just a few holes with homes along the back side.
Whitmore Lake features a nice clubhouse with pro shop plus a spacious restaurant lounge, with considerable space for banquets and outings. Practice facilities include a
targeted grass range, short game area with sand bunker, plus putting green. On course 150 yard poles double as directional devices, and 100 and 200 yard markers are also
posted on par fours and fives. Color coded flags indicate the day's pin placements on the medium sized and mildly undulating putting surfaces.
There are 10 holes with some form of water hazard in play - mostly marsh lands and wet areas. Bunkering is understated but strategic, with 29 sand traps situated near the
landing zones off the tee or greenside. The bent grass fairways and tees were nicely manicured on our late spring visit. The terrain is mildly rolling, with a mix of open and tree
lined holes. The par 4 13th is one of SE Michigan's more unique holes, with teh blue and white tee boxes positioned in the middle of a large marsh.
Several interesting doglegs that bend in either direction create the need for careful shot planning off the tee. There are 4 sets of tees that play to 6257 yards/132 slope, 6071
yards/126 slope, 5482 yards/115 slope and 4185 yards with a slope of 101 from the front tee areas. The course will challenge players from the 2 back tees, but is very playable for
novice golfers from the 2 front sets.
A significant number of well constructed wooden bridges venture across natural areas and march lands, and also through pristine woodlands, creating a secluded feeling and
aesthetic quality. we highly recommend a round here! For more info, visit our alpha page for the course with direct link to their website by clicking here.
