The Golf Club at Thornapple Pointe (616) 554-4747
Michigan golf course review
Thornapple Pointe Golf Club in Grand Rapids is an expansive championship design situated along the banks of the Thornapple River. This finely conditioned layout meanders
along gently rolling hills, through hardwood-lined fairways, and near three of the most enchanting, untouched wetlands found in the Midwest.
The course can be quite challenging from the middle to back tees, and is very playable for the average golfer from the front sets. Besides the 8 holes with water hazards and 64
sand bunkers situated along the landing zones or greenside, golfers will have to contend with tall native high grasses that await offline approaches. A unique feature is the half
moon shaped sand traps found on quite a few holes.
There are 5 sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 7023 yards/143 slope, 6688 yards/136 slope, 6339 yards/132 slope, 5708yards/126 slope for men and
136 for women, and 4922 yards with a slope of 116 for men and 123 for ladies hitting from the forward tees. A GPS mounted on all carts provides distances from tee to green, as
well as hole diagrams.
The clubhouse includes a pro shop and a nice restaurant and lounge. Banquet outing facilities are on property and there is a large practice green, short game area and targeted
grass range. The high level of service and amenities offered here make this an ideal location for golf outings, tournaments, weddings and special events.
