St Clair Shores Golf Club (586-294-2000)
Michigan Golf Course Review
St Clair Shores Golf Club (formerly a semi-private club- now open for public play) on Masonic just east of Gratiot in the NE section of Metro Detroit is a popular spot for golf outings
and leagues, and is a player-friendly experience for all levels of abilities.
On property is a practice green (for chipping and putting) plus a hitting net with warm up stations. The clubhouse features a pro shop, outing and banquet facilities, plus the Chip
Shot Restaurant - affiliated with National Coney Island - which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
After extensive renovations, which have improved conditioning from tee to green immensely, this course now features 54 soft sand bunkers located along the fairways or
greenside, and water hazards come into play on eight holes. Players will find ample landing zones off the tee, and sufficient recovery room near the mildly sloping putting surfaces.
There are 4 sets of tee boxes that play to distances and salopes measuring 6015 yards/123 slope, 5676 yards/115 slope, 5316 yards/112 slope for men and 120 for women, and
4848 yards with a slope of 116 for ladies hitting from the forward sets.
Color coded lines on the cart paths and round blocks on the fairways represent yardages 200, 150 and 100 yards from the green, and red, white and blue flags indicate the day's
front, middle or back hole locations.
Walking is allowed at all times, and green fees with cart top out in the $40 range prime time in 2008. For more info, visit our page for the course by clicking here.
