SHARP PARK GOLF COURSE (517)788-4066
Michigan Golf Course Review
Ella Sharp Park Golf Course in Jackson opened in 1926. The Parks Superintendent Eric Terrian manages the course and the staff does they're best to keep the course conditions
well maintained. On property there is a learning center with affordable lessons and located in the clubhouse is the Jackson Hall of Fame where plaques, trophies and
memorabilia of the best golfers of Jackson's past are on display.
The practice facilities feature a targeted grass range, a large practice putting green, and a short game area with sand bunker. The clubhouse includes a pro shop with the
necessities available for sale, a bar/grill serving lunch items daily. The scorecards feature large hole diagrams so that golfers may strategize each shot before they step up to the ball.
Three sets of tee boxes play to distances and slopes measuring 5827 yards/115 slope, 5300 yards/108 slope, and 4744 yards with a slope of 110 for ladies hitting from the
forward tees. As the slope ratings indicate, there is plenty of opportunity for golfers of all skill levels to score low on this good value golf course.
All carts include GPS which measures the distance to the center of the putting surfaces. The yardage marking system also consists of colored stakes off the sides of the fairways
from distances of 100, 150 and 200 yards to the greens center. The scorecards include diagrams with the depth of each green and six possible pin positions.
Sand features come into play frequently near the mildly sloping greens with a total of 31 bunkers. Landing zones off the tees are free of sand, and the fairways are tree lined but
not tightly - providing plenty of landing room. The terrain is pretty flat with the exception of a couple of elevated greens, and water comes into play on only two holes.
This is an extremely good golf value for the region. For more info, visit our page for the course with direct link to their website by clicking here.
