RIVERVIEW HIGHLANDS GOLF COURSE (734-479-2266)
Michigan Golf Course Review
Riverview Highlands is a 27-hole championship facility featuring 3 sets of nines that are developed along a gently rolling, tree lined terrain with strategic bunkering and plentiful
water hazards that are home to an abundance of native wildlife. The property includes a full service practice facility with targeted grass range, short game area with sand bunker
and 100-yard long putting green.
The photos in this review (with the exception of the picture below left which is the opening hole of the Red Course) are of the Gold and Blue nines, which are the ones most often
used for those playing 18 holes. The courses feature mature trees, sprawling natural wetlands and marsh areas, and thick brush with man-made mounding that often separates parallel fairways.
The landing zones off the tee are generally ample, and there is sufficient recovery room beside the large, sloping green complexes which are often raised. The combination of
wide fairways and plentiful room greenside makes this a fair and enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels. The numerous water hazards (3 holes on the Gold and 7 on
the Blue have water in play in some shape or form) make the challenge interesting enough for even avid golfers.
Sand bunkering is understated with 11 sand traps situated on the Gold Course and 13 on the Blue. (The Red Course features just 7 bunkers, with water in play on 4 holes). Each
layout is marked with 100, 150 and 200 yard blocks on the fairways plus color coded stripes on cart paths, and small markers on the flagsticks indicate front, middle or back hole
locations. There are 150 yard stakes on the fairways of all par fours and fives.
There are 4 sets of tees on each hole, with yardages measuring from 5173 yards to 6732 yards and with slope varying between 114 and 122. The property includes a small pro
shop plus snack area serving hot & cold sandwiches and beverages. There also is a privately owned restaurant/lounge - the Sportmen's Den, plus a large banquet/special
events hall adjacent. An outing room above the pro shop can accommodate up to 150 people.
The price structure at Riverview Highlands is very reasonable. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
