Michigan Golf Course Review
Pine Hollow Golf Club, located in Jackson, was designed by J. Morris Wilson and opened in 1984. This 6020 yard par 71 regulation course is under new ownership and has
seen numerous improvements. Golfers may enjoy a relaxing round on a course that is relatively short and generally user-friendly.
Three sets of tee boxes play to distances measuring 6020 yards from the back (blue) tees, 5383 from the middle (white) tees, and 4473 from the front (red) tees. The course has
not been rated so the slopes and ratings are not available at this time. The short par fives provide birdie opportunities for golfers of all skill levels while some of the longer par
fours will challenge average and high handicap players ( i.e. the 425 yard 13th).
This is a very player friendly course with no serious danger, at least in the form of water hazards or sand bunkers as there are none - providing clear sailing for beginners. Most of
the challenge comes in the form of tightly tree lined landing zones off the tees and sometimes near the greens. The approaches are somewhat painless with only gentle
mounding, and no sand bunkering to guard the level, mild sloping greens.
The clubhouse includes a pro shop, a snack bar open daily for lunch, and an outdoor canopy with picnic tables ready to use for outings. For practice there is a putting and chipping
green for players to work on their short game and get accustomed to the putting surfaces before a round of golf.
The yardage marking system consists of colored plates in the middle of the fairways from distances of 100, 150 and 200 yards to the greens center as well as 150 yard posts in
the middle of the fairways on all par fours and fives. Colored flags indicate front, middle, and back pin positions on the greens.
