Michigan Golf Course Review

Myth Golf & Banquets - Michigan golf course

Myth Golf and Banquets (formerly Beaver Creek Golf Links) is a par 71, 18 hole 6327 yard golf course which provides an interesting and good value design in the north metro Detroit area. Located in Macomb this layout is built on mounded topography with numerous water hazards and downhill and uphill approaches to greens which vary in size and shape. The course captures a mythical theme as your round takes you through marshy wet lands and over wooden bridge nature trails in-between holes

Each hole has three tee boxes which play to distances and slopes measuring 6327 yards/129 slope from the back, 6006 yards/125 slope from the middle, and 4983 yards with a slope of 116 for woman playing from the front tees. Bunkering on course is understated, there are 11 sand bunkers which come into play on 4 of the 18 holes, and water and/or marsh comes into play on 16 holes.

The clubhouse includes a pro shop providing golf essentials, a restaurant and bar serving lunch and dinner, and room for 225 guests in their banquet facility with a full wedding staff and wedding planner. There is a driving range, but no putting or chipping green on property.

Red, white, and blue flags indicate front, middle, and back pin positions to help golfers choose the correct club while approaching the greens. Yardage plates in the middle of the bent grass fairways mark distances of 100, 150 and 200 yards from the greens' center.

This is a fairly challenging layout with rolling mounded terrain and water hazards on nearly every hole and a good mixture of small, medium and large sized greens. Although there is no practice green on property, golfers can enjoy a 9-hole par 3 course - perfect for beginners, for working on the short game, or for a quick round.  Walking is not permitted at the Myth as the distance between many holes is far too great.

The course was recently purchased (2007) by the owners of Bruce Hills Golf Club in Romeo. For more info, please visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
