LAKE MICHIGAN HILLS GOLF CLUB (269-849-4653)
Michigan Golf Course Review
Lake Michigan Hills in Benton Harbor is a 4-star (Golf Digest Places to Play) championship design featuring a scenic terrain and top notch conditioning, which makes it a popular
golf destination for players from SW Michigan and northern Indiana as well as the Chicago area.
Located just 2 miles from Lake Michigan and 90 minutes from Chicago, this traditional design features tree lined fairways over a very rolling terrain, with elevation changes and
strategic bunkering plus water hazards that will provide a fair yet challenging round for all levels of players. With residential properties scattered only along the perimeters of the
course, Lake Michigan Hills is both scenic and secluded. Residential opportunities at the Lake Michigan Hills Golf Side Villas are available - visit their website for information.
The golf course features a nice variety in hole design with water coming into play on 11 holes and 55 sand bunkers situated near the landing zones or greenside. There are
numerous doglegs, including a three hole stretch on the backside (numbers 14-16).Golfers will also encounter several elevated tees, with both of the opening holes featuring raised tee areas.
There are 4 sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 6884 yards/140 slope, 6507 yards/126 slope, 6094 yards/120 slope and 5284 yards with a slope of
125 for ladies hitting from the forward sets. As the slopes indicate, this is a very demanding test of golf from the back tees, but those using the alternate tees will find the course
fair and enjoyable.
100, 150 and 200 yard markers (250 on all par fives as well) are posted on the fairways and 150 stakes also double as directional devices on all par fours and fives. Color coded
flags indicate the day's front, middle or back hole locations. On property is a clubhouse with pro shop and restaurant/lounge. Practice facilities include a grass range plus two
putting/chipping greens.
Lake Michigan Hills is one of the best golf values in the tri-state regions of Michigan, Indiana and Illinois - and comes highly recommended by us! For more info, visit our page fort
