LAKE DOSTER GOLF CLUB (269-685-5308)
Michigan Golf Course Review
We did not have to opportunity to play LakeDoster, but drove the course to take photos for this pictorial review. LakeDoster in Plainwell just north of Kalamazoo and 35 minutes
south of Grand Rapids, is a Charles Darl Scott championship design that has garnered 4 stars by Golf Digest Places to Play. It is a beautiful layout with a nice variety and features
some gorgeous elevated tee shots and pretty par threes.
The design features a mix of open and tight, tree lined holes along a hilly terrain, with plentiful doglegs bending in either direction, but most often favoring a right to left shot shape.
The bent grass greens are small to medium in size and mild in slope and undulation - and are always in good shape. They are generally open in front, with bunkers often located
to one or both sides.
Golfers have four sets of tees to choose from, with distances and slopes measuring 6565 yards/131 slope, 6112 yards/128 slope, 5530 yards/123 slope for seniors and 128 for
women, and 4840 yards with a slope of 119. There are yardage blocks posted in the fairways at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and color coded flags indicate front, middle or back pin placements
On property is a clubhouse with snack area serving a lunch menu with a full array of bar items. There also is a pro shop and nicely appointed banquet/outing facilities. A grass
range and practice green is adjacent. This is a nice golf facility - and a good value for the area...all levels of players will find challenge! For more info, visit our page for the course,
