HEATHER HIGHLANDS GOLF CLUB (248-634-6800)
Michigan Golf Course Review
Heather Highlands is a complete golf facility that includes an 18-hole championship course, a grass range and practice green, plus clubhouse with pro shop, and a huge
restaurant and banquet outing facilities.
The championship layout was designed by Robert Bruce Harris in 1966, and features a nice variety of holes that play along a very rolling terrain. Golfers will encounter a mix of
wide and tight tree lined fairways that play to medium size, mildly undulating green complexes. Some of the putting surfaces are crowned - none more than the 6th green which
runs off in front and on both sides. There are also a number of doglegs that bend in either direction, along with fairly straight holes such as the par four 1st and 10th holes which
are nearly identical in design, save for the pond located greenside on 10.
The par threes are relatively simple, straightforward with bunkers on either side. The long par three 8th is an exception, as a nasty water hazard awaits to the left and a tall tree
blocks the entrance from the right. In total, there is water in play in some shape or form on 9 holes, and 30-plus sand bunkers can be found squeezing the landing areas on the
fairways or located greenside.
Three sets of tees play to distances and slopes measuring 6879 yards/124 slope, 6446 yards/120 slope and 5752 yards with a 122 slope for women from the forward tees. As
these slopes indicate, this course is playable for all levels of golfers. On course yardage markers are located every 25 yards from 75 to 200 yards, and a 150 yard stake is located
in the center of all the par fours and fives. Color coded flags indicate front, middle and back pin placements.
Heather Highlands is known for its great value and friendly service. It is also know for its Golfer's Appreciation Days - where the doors are open to allow golfers a chance to play
for FREE! This 20-year tradition takes place as soon as possible after the outing season... call the pro shop in the fall for details. Heather Highlands is located just off I-75 (exit 98
E Holly Road ) - and can be seen from the highway. Rates are extremely reasonable. For more info including a direct link to their website, visit our page for Heather Highlands by clicking here.
