GRAND VIEW GOLF COURSE (231-861-6616)
Michigan Golf Course Review
Grand View Golf Course in New Era (not to be confused with Grandview Golf Club in Kalkaska) is an 18-hole championship design that offers a mix of challenging golf with
spectacular views. Weekend rates including cart topped off at just $40 in 2007, making this one of the best values in Northwest and West Michigan. What's more, senior rates are
available 7 days a week, providing an even greater golf value.
Scattered trees along a hilly terrain line the generous bluegrass fairways, leading to bent grass putting surfaces that are medium in size and mild in undulation. Elevation
changes off the tee and on approaches, plus greenside mounding and strategic though understated bunkering, create the challenge on this par 71 layout. Water comes into play
on just 2 holes and approximately 3 dozen sand traps are located greenside or near the landing zones along the fairways.
Three tee boxes play to distances and slopes measuring 6197 yards/121 slope, 5901 yards/116 slope, and 4668 yards with a slope of 110 from the forward tees. As the slope
ratings indicate, low scores are possible on this course, which has garnered a 4 star rating from Golf Digest Places to Play.
This is a nice walking course, with tee areas located within short distances of the green complexes. Color coded flags on the putting surfaces are in place to indicate front, middle
and back hole locations, and large boulders are situated along both sides of the fairways at the 150 yard area. Sprinkler heads are also measured to the center of the green.
There are some holes with significant elevation changes, and the short par three 8th is the signature hole on property, with the green almost totally surrounded by water.
Landscaped tee areas with beautiful flowers and shrubbery add to the aesthetics of a round of golf at Grand View.
On property is a driving range and practice green, and the clubhouse features a pro shop plus snack bar serving beer, wine, snacks and sandwiches. The property is conveniently
located on 68th Avenue just-1/2 mile south of US-31. For more information, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
