The Crown Golf Club in the southwest side of Traverse City is an 18 hole championship course featuring a rolling topography and breathtaking scenery. The layout provides wide
fairways and large open greens that are mildly sloped with few undulations. Located just five minutes from the Grand Traverse Mall, the Crown is a fair challenge for the
experienced player from the tips, and from the three remaining tees is playable for beginners and high handicappers.
Four sets of tees play to yardages and slopes that measure 6666 yards/136 slope, 6180 yards/125 slope, 5395/115 slope for men and 125 for women, and 4837 yards with a 118
slope for ladies using the forward sets.
A secluded residential community surrounds the design - with homes now available through Crown Development (call 231-946-2933 for details). Seven ponds and natural
wetland areas create an aesthetic beauty while also providing obstacles to scoring, with a couple forced carries off the tee or greenside.
Number five has a marsh area just in front of the green, and the par four sixth features another water hazard that is hidden by a willow tree just right of the fairway. The 18th is one
of the prettiest holes on the course - a dogleg left par four featuring a tight approach to a well bunkered green complex fronted by a pond that also crosses the tee area on the tenth
. Elevation changes are prominent along the layout, with several elevated tees and raised greens.
On property at the Crown is a grass range and practice green, plus a clubhouse with pro shop and Mulligan's Pub & Grill - open 7 days a week year round for lunch and dinner,
with brunch on Sundays. Sprinkler heads and yardage blocks on the fairways provide measurements to the center of the green, and 150 yard stakes are present on all par fours
and fives. Small markers on the flagsticks indicate front, middle and back hole locations - and partial cart paths leading from landscaped tee areas make driving carts a
