Michigan golf course review.
Chandler Park is located just minutes from Downtown Detroit, and Grosse Point with easy and fast access to I94. The par 71, 6000 yard course is a great layout for beginners and
golfers of all skill levels in and near the city. Golf Digest Magazine has recognized Chandler Park as one of the top Woman Friendly Courses. Fair pricing and improved conditions
make this track one of the better values in the Detroit area.
The Clubhouse includes a pro shop, snack bar with sandwiches and hot dogs. Practice facilities include a large green used for putting and chipping. It is rare to find wild life in the
middle of a big city, Chandler Park provides one of these rare opportunities where deer can be spotted on or near the course.
Three sets of tee boxes measure to distances and slopes ranging from 4570 yards / 102 for women playing the forward tees, 5325 yards / 112 slope for women, 105 for men from
the middle tees, to 5832 yards with a slope of 109 from the back tees. 32 sand traps come into play greenside and on occasion near fairway landing zones. Water comes into play
on 5 holes and is most prominent on the par four 13th and the par three 14th.
Yardage to the center of the green is marked on the fairways from 100 and 200 yards out, and 150 yard stakes. Color coded flags indicate back, middle and forward pin positions.
There are a few drivable par fours including the 2nd and 3rd which measure 289 and 267 yards with not much trouble besides greenside bunkers. The short par threes range
from 88 to 158 yards from the back tees.
The par fours are comparable to many regulation courses and for a short course, Chandler Park features a good mixture of short and long par fours ranging from 257 to 426 yards
including three over 400. For the most part, golfers are given a break on the short par 3's and 5's. Well traveled golfers will appreciate the fast, well conditioned putting surfaces -
they have noticeably improved over the years.
