OXFORD HILLS GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB (248)628-2518
Michigan Golf Course Review 5/30/08
Oxford Hills Golf & Country Club, located in Oxford just east of M24, is a 6,522 yard championship golf course. J
.M. Hubbard designed this par 72 golf course in 1965 and Bob Hubbard currently manages the course as the
General Manager. Reasonably priced at $45 (including cart) for a weekend round, this course is a great value and is highly recommended for golfers visiting or living in Southeastern Michigan
Three sets of tee boxes play to distances measuring 6528 yards/125 slope from the back (blue) tees, 6262
yards/121 slope from the middle (white) tees, and 5315 yards with a slope of 114 from the front (red) tees. The
354 yard 1st is the longest par four on the front nine, while each of the par fours on the back are at greater than
360 yards including two over 420 yards long. The 477 yard par four 11th is actually longer than the 449 yard par five 7th.
The yardage marking system consists of colored plates in the middle of the fairways along with yardage posts
off the fairways from distances of 100, 150 and 200 yards to the greens center as well as marked sprinkler heads. Colored flags indicate front, middle, and back hole locations on all putting surfaces.
The practice facilities include two greens which can be used for chipping and putting providing the opportunity
for a good short game warm up. The clubhouse includes a pro shop plus grill open daily for lunch. For outings
and banquets there is space indoors for 70 people and an area outside of the clubhouse for even more.
Although there are no sand bunkers on this layout and not much to bother golfers near the putting surfaces in
terms of mounding, water comes into play frequently. Seven holes on the front nine and four on the back feature
water in all shapes and sizes. A large pond is featured on the left side of the 354 yard first - a tough starting hole
and the # 6 handicap. Most of the undulation and mounding throughout the terrain is in the rough and the
fairways provide even lies with exception to the blind tee shots on the 4th and 10th holes.
