MICHIGAN MEADOWS GOLF COURSE (586-727-7029)
Michigan Golf Course Review
Michigan Meadows Golf Course in Casco (northeast Metro Detroit region) is a 6000 yard par 72 layout that is designed for the enjoyment of all levels of players. Though short in
yardage, the design packs some punch in the form of some tightly tree lined fairways with landing zones and green complexes that are often protected by water hazards.
Four sets of tee boxes play to distances and slopes measuring 5954 yards/128 slope, 5660 yards/124 slope, 5276 yards/114 slope, and 5070 yards with a slope of 123 from
women playing from the forward tees. The slope ratings from the blue and white tee areas (with yardages under 6000 yards) is a good indication that golfers will have to carefully
maneuver their way around this course if they are to score well.
There are numerous doglegs bending in either direction that will challenge golfers to hit the correct spots off the tee. Twenty sand bunkers (low lipped and non-penal in nature)
are situated along the bluegrass fairways or are situated greenside, and water in the form of ponds or creeks comes into play on 14 holes.
On course yardage markers are posted in the form of color coded stakes, at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and small positional markers on the flag sticks indicate the day's front,
middle or back pin placements. There is a nice mix of fairly open and tightly tree-lined fairways, and the green complexes are usually quite level or only slightly raised, with putting
surfaces that are medium in size and undulation.
The clubhouse includes a pro shop, restaurant/lounge and banquet/outing facilities. There is a practice green on property, but no driving range. This course is set in a very
wooded area, with very few residential buildings in view. Rates here topped out at just $37 including cart in 2007 - making this a good value golf experience, especially on weekends.
