HARTLAND GLEN - South Course ( 248-887-3777)
Michigan Golf Course Review
Hartland Glen is a 36-hole championship facility boasting two 18-hole courses, grass driving range, putting greens, short game area with sand bunker, plus clubhouse with pro
shop and dining/outing capacities for over 200 people. Though not long, both courses provide challenge in the form of water hazards, large sand bunkers and tree lined fairways
that often dogleg in either direction.
The photos in this review are of the South course. This par 71 layout plays to 5919 yards from the tips, with a very playable slope rating of 122. Alternate sets measure 5741
yards/120 slope and 4541yards with a slope of 114 also, from the forward tees. There are 4 par threes and 3 par fives all on the front nine.
Sand bunkering is understated, with 14 sand traps situated near the landing zones or greenside. Some of the bunker are quite large. 5 holes have water in play ion some shape or form.
Both courses are set in a serene environment, and feature a mix of wide open and tight fairways lined with willows, pines, majestic spruce and mature hardwoods. 150 yard
stakes are found in the center of fairways on all par fours and fives, and small flags on the greens provide info on front, middle and back hole locations. There also are markers at
200 and 100 yards.
The putting surfaces are medium in size and very mild in undulation, though many slope front to back or from one side to the other. Most are only slightly raised and are open in
front, providing easy access and plentiful scoring opportunities. For more info, visit our page for each course, with direct link to their website by clicking here for the North Course and here for the South Course.
