HARTLAND GLEN ( 248-887-3777)
Michigan Golf Course Review 6/29/06
Hartland Glen is a 36-hole championship facility boasting two 18-hole courses, grass driving range, putting
greens, short game area with sand bunker, plus clubhouse with pro shop and dining/outing capacities for over
200 people. Though not long, both courses provide challenge in the form of water hazards, large sand bunkers and tree lined fairways that often dogleg in either direction.
The photos (except for the last picture) in this review are of the north course. This par 71 layout plays to 6287
yards from the tips, with a very playable slope rating of 120. Alternate sets measure 6067 yards/117 slope and
5111 yards with a slope of 117 also, from the forward tees. There are 4 par threes and 3 par fives, with the remaining par fours measuring between 315 and 450 yards from the back tees.
The South course is shorter with three sets of tee boxes measuring 6030, 5659 and 4457 yards with slope
ratings from 117 to 107. As the slopes indicate, these are both very player friendly designs, perfect for beginners
or high handicappers. There is enough trouble however, with the bunkers and ponds to keep it interesting for the avid players.
Both courses are set in a serene environment, and feature a mix of wide open and tight fairways lined with
willows, pines, majestic spruce and mature hardwoods. 150 yard stakes are found in the center of fairways on all
par fours and fives, and small flags on the greens provide info on front, middle and back hole locations. There also are markers at 200 and 100 yards.
The putting surfaces are medium in size and very mild in undulation, though many slope front to back or from one
side to the other. Most are only slightly raised and are open in front, providing easy access and plentiful scoring
opportunities. Rates in 2006 during prime time, including cart topped out at around $40 during 2006. For more info, visit our page for each course, with direct link to their website by clicking here for the North Course and here for the South Course..
