GULL LAKE VIEW GOLF CLUB (269-731-4149)
Review 5/22/05
General information
Gull Lake View Resort is located in the beautiful lake region of Southwest Michigan, and offers 5 championship
golf courses that are rated from 4 to 4-1/2 stars by Golf Digest Places to Play. On-site accommodations can
house up to 256 guests and banquet/meeting facilities can comfortably take care of groups of up to 300 guests.
Altogether there are three clubhouses, 2 driving ranges and nine practice greens, along with dining options at
each of the 3 clubhouses. This is a wonderful set of courses, and an experience at the resort on one of their stay
and play packages is a deal that can't go wrong. For more info on the resort and packages, visit our page for Gull Lake View Resort, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
Each of the five courses provides the same on-course marking system...color coded flags indicate front, middle
and back hole locations, 150 yard stakes are visible on the fairways of par fours and fives, yardage blocks are
measured to the center of the green at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and the tee boxes on all par threes also are
marked. Each course is wonderfully maintained from tee to green, providing outstanding conditioning on all playing surfaces.
GULL LAKE VIEW EAST AND WEST INFO
The East and West Courses are located on the resort property, with the Fairway Villas lining some fairways of
the East layout. There is a huge practice green for putting and chipping on property but no range, and the
clubhouse features a well stocked pro shop plus restaurant/lounge that serves breakfast and lunch 7 days a
week, with dinners on Wednesday through Sunday all season long. This facility adjoins the banquet room, which when used in conjunction can facilitate groups of up to 300 people.
EAST COURSE
The East Course is one incredible layout, featuring significant elevation changes from tee to green along an
extremely hilly topography. Rated four stars by Golf Digest Places to play, this undulating layout provides four tee
boxes, affording golfers with opportunities to play from yardages and slopes measuring 6059/124, 5549/120
and 4931 yards with a slope of 118 on the forward tees. Though not a long course, the East packs some punch with sloping, elevated green complexes and a number of blind tee shots to raised fairways.
Many of the greens are well bunkered, and most fairways are tree lined, but generally provide ample landing
zones. The back side is a particularly up and down track, with some significant water hazards in play. In total,
there are 30 soft sand bunkers, plus 8 holes that have water in play in some shape or form. We found this course
to be extremely interesting and certainly beautiful - and highly recommend it for all levels of players. For more
