Elmbrook Golf Course - in the heart of Traverse City, is the most easily accessible 18-hole golf facility in this resort town known for its fine array of golf experiences. The terrain
here is very hilly, and presents a great variety in hole design, which makes it a local's favorite.
The facility recently received permission for well access, which will drastically improve conditioning on the fairways and rough in years to come.
The property includes a targeted grass range that is applicable for irons only, plus a practice green for putting and chipping. Lessons from PGA professionals are available. There
is a pro shop and snack area/lounge with outdoor patio that features wonderful golf course views.
On course yardage markers are posted at 100, 125, 150, 175 and 200 yards, and some sprinkler heads are also measured to the center of the green. Positional markers on the
flagsticks indicate the day's front, middle or back hole locations. The bent grass greens are medium is size and very mildly sloped, with some table top greens. Most of the
complexes are raised with ample recovery room nearby.
There are many elevated tees, and the fairways present a mix of tightly tree lined and fairly open playing surfaces. With the undulating terrain golfers will encounter some uneven
lies, but the fairways are generally forgiving. Bunkering is an understated feature, with just 10 sand traps situated along the landing zones or greenside. Water hazards come into
play on the first, 8th and 9th holes.
Three sets of tees play to distances and slopes that measure 6021 yards116 slope, 5674 yards/114 slope and 4938 yards with a slope of 119 for women using the forward tees.
As these distances and slopes indicate - this is a good experience for beginners, seniors and ladies. An alternate set of tees at 2932 yards is perfect for junior golfers. The course
