Michigan golf course review
Clear Lake in Big Rapids is a family friendly golf course - ideal for beginners and juniors and seniors. It is also very women friendly. On our review visit we encountered several
families enjoying themselves on the course.
The front side is quite level with a few exceptions, while the back side presents a rolling terrain with numerous holes featuring elevation changes. Bunkering is understated with
about 25 traps situated greenside or near the landing zones off the tee. Water comes into play in some shape or form on 9 holes.
There are 4 sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 6277 yards/129 slope, 5809yards/124 slope, 5226 yards/119 slope, and 4694 yards with a slope of 121
for ladies hitting from the forward tees. There are 100, 150 and 200 yard stakes on all par fours and fives, and color coded flags indicate the day's front, middle or back pin
placements.
The clubhouse includes a pro shop and a nice restaurant and lounge with hot and cold sandwiches and beverages, plus daily specials - info available through the facebook link at
the top right of this page. Practice facilities include a grass range and putting green.
