BRENTWOOD GOLF AND BANQUET CENTER (248)684-2662
Michigan Golf Course Review 10-10-07
Brentwood is an eighteen hole public golf course located in White Lake, 50 minutes from downtown Detroit.
Designed by Jim Ludwig and built in 1995, the course features two distinctive types of design. The wooded front
nine is a trail design that plays between homes lining the fairways, and the back nine is a typical Scottish links design featuring very few trees.
There are four sets of tee boxes on each hole which play to distances measuring 6424 yards with a slope of 120,
6001 yards with a slope of 109, 5124 yards/ 95 slope(men) 124(for women), and from the front 4479 yards with
a116 slope for women. Some of the most difficult hazards are taken out of play from the front tees, making this layout playable for women, seniors and juniors.
Yardage markings include red, white and blue yardage posts at 100, 150 and 200 yards just off the side of the
well conditioned fairways, plus 150-yard stakes measured to the center of the green. Small markers on the flag
sticks indicate the day's pin placements on the finely maintained greens that feature mild but tricky contours and varying slope directions on every hole.
The Clubhouse includes a pro shop, a full menu restaurant with stocked bar, men's and woman's locker rooms
and showers, and space for 150 people for banquets and outings. On property there is a large practice putting
green, but no driving range or chipping area. There is also an instructional league for juniors where they can learn the game and compete with others.
On course there are a total of 39 sand bunkers near the greens and fairways, and marshes, wetlands, and ponds
come into play on thirteen holes. With the amount of hazardous areas and mounding which can cause
challenging, uneven lies from all angles on almost any hole, the low slopes given this course can be deceiving.
The par five 16th hole really stands out with a grass hill directly in front of the green, which completely blocks the view of the putting surface on the approach.
This is a well maintained course located in a gated community in a beautiful area of metro Detroit. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here
