GOLF AT THE JEWEL - GRAND HOTEL |
Originally built in 1901, the hotel's front nine called "Grand" was given a makeover in 1987. A second nine "Woods" was added in 1994. Separated by over 1 and one quarter miles, they comprise The Jewel - the resort's 18-hole facility which features the only horse-drawn carriage ride between nines in the country. This is a beautiful "resort golf" experience, with few forced carries, wonderful conditioning from tee to green, and outstanding views. The Grand nine - situated right out the door from the hotel, is short in nature and features dramatic holes with elevation changes, as it parlays about the hustle and bustle of the resort attractions. After a 15 minute horse drawn carriage ride to the back side, golfers will encounter the Woods nine, which features a more secluded atmosphere cut through hardwoods and tall white pines, providing a nice contrast to the front side. On property is a clubhouse with pro shop, and a restaurant/lounge with indoor & outdoor seating - serving excellent hot & cold sandwiches and drink. There also is a practice green adjacent. For more info on this beautiful course, visit the twoguyswhogolf pictorial review of the Jewel, with photos and course description by clicking here.
